Introducing the RSV4 1100 Factory, the latest evolution in the RSV4 family, a range with impeccable lineage in its superbike history which includes seven world titles. Add racing world technology and a wealth of experience developed in MotoGP and the result is an exceptional bike both on the road and on the track.

As the first Aprilia bike equipped with the new 1078-cc V4 engine boasting maximum power of 217 hp, the RSV4 1100 Factory resets the bar in the category. Extraordinary attention to detail, distinctive colours and smart use of aluminium, titanium and carbon all come together to make this a unique and instantly recognisable motorcycle.

A powerful Aprilia evolution

The new Aprilia V4 engine in the RSV4 signifies an important new benchmark with its 1078-cc displacement and inimitable sound, unmistakeable even on the open road.

Its racing credentials are evident in its maximum torque of 122 Nm at 11,000 rpm and outstanding power, a category-busting 217 CV at 13,200 rpm. Figures which improve the RSV4 1100 Factory’s efficiency during acceleration even in lower speeds, to create an exceptional driving experience in any situation.

New also is the exhaust, lighter and with improved performance thanks to its certified Akrapovič system in titanium.

More efficient on curves and during braking

The ergonomics of the new Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory are testament to its winning ways. The body and modified chassis, together with the new set up of the Öhlins NIX fork improve riding sensation whilst also ensuring greater support at highest speeds.

Another improvement comes in the Brembo Stylema® front pincer callipers, lighter and better performing than ever thanks to their updated design which increases ventilation.

The good news continues with the addition of aerodynamic winglets in carbon fibre. Derived from the racing world, they increase stability at all speeds, including even during the hardest of braking manoeuvres.

Racing technology

Electronic control and outstanding performance combine to deliver an enthralling riding experience. The APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control), a standard piece of equipment on the RSV4 1100 Factory, integrates seamlessly with Ride-by-Wire throttle control.

The advanced ABS Cornering multi-map, developed in collaboration with Bosch, guarantees exceptional safety on the road whilst allowing you to customise your performance based on three different types: Sport, Track and Race.

The TFT colour instrumentation ensures you have everything constantly under control with its enhanced display visualisation.

Even greater control and performance analysis is provided by APRILIA MIA, the Aprilia multi-media platform which connects the bike and your Smartphone via Bluetooth.

RSV4 1000 RR

Aprilia RSV4 RR represents the most important and profound advancement ever made on this extraordinary model. A development that even involved the design. The style of the new RSV4 is the result of the perfect combination of form and function. The careful design led to the most compact full-size sport bike on the market, where technical elements such as the impeccable aluminium double frame contribute to emphasising its racing vocation.

The front end has been completely redesigned: now there is a new, more protective top fairing, created after a careful wind tunnel aerodynamics study, which provides better protection from the wind for riders of any height. This choice has a positive impact not only on the track when the rider is seeking protection to achieve maximum speed, but also on the road where greater comfort is provided thanks to the lower air pressure on the body and helmet. The characteristic triple headlight is also new, now with a more modern shape and an LED parking light. The mirrors are new, also the subject of a wind tunnel study, which combine excellent aerodynamic penetration with improved visibility and built in LED turn indicators.

65° V4

In terms of quantity and quality of the operations, the unrivalled Aprilia V4 has every right to consider itself a radically new unit: if there were any doubts, they are quickly dispelled by the more than 16 additional HP and the 1.5 kg less than its predecessor. This is one of the Aprilia RSV4 RR elements that is most closely derived from the racing world and the one on which the Aprilia Racing Department was able to work the most with the factory production. The primary and unique characteristics of this gem of Italian technology, the ones that led to the creation of the best superbike of all times, remain unchanged. This is the worlds first full scale production motorcycle with a high performance narrow V4 engine, the most revolutionary and powerful engine ever built by Aprilia. An engine that has become unmistakeable because of the use of “total” electronics, because of its extremely compact size and exceptional light weight.

The main goals of the new V4 project were clear: increase power across the board, exceeding the threshold of 200 HP maximum peak and at the same time increase the already generous torque at all engine speeds. To achieve them work was done on decreasing internal friction, improving combustion efficiency and fuel-dynamic efficiency as well as on increasing the maximum rotation speed. The Noale engineers redesigned almost all of the internal and external elements.

Superbike frame

Aprilia is known as one of the best chassis manufacturers in the world and the RSV4 RR represents the synthesis of the technical prowess Aprilia has acquired in top level world championships. A particularity which is still exclusive to the RSV4 RR (and which has always been a characteristic of previous RSV4 models) is the exceptional – and exclusive – possibility of adjustments that the standard equipment chassis is able to offer. In fact, the new Aprilia is the only superbike that allows the rider to adjust the engine position in the frame, the headstock angle, the swingarm pivot and the rear end height, naturally in addition to the fully adjustable suspension. Just like a real racing bike.

The highly sought after and winning structure of the Aprilia RSV4 frame has remained substantially unchanged and uses elements in pressed and cast aluminium capable of guaranteeing exceptional performance, thanks in part to the perfectly balanced torsional rigidity and flexibility values. Optimally centralised masses are just one the RSV4 chassis strengths. To achieve this result nothing was neglected. The swingarm utilises the same construction technology as the frame but it has been lengthened 14 mm to guarantee better traction and to decrease the tendency for wheelies during the violent acceleration that the

extraordinary characteristics of the powerplant allow. Precisely because of the V4’s power increase the chassis and weight distribution configuration have been revamped: the engine is mounted in the lowest possible position allowed by its adjustment range within the frame, whereas the fully adjustable suspension has been fine tuned to guarantee maximum control in extreme riding.

Aprilia RSV4 RR perfects what was already top shelf in the previous versions thanks to a significant improvement to its already exceptionally dynamic controls package designed and patented by Aprilia. APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control) is the well-known control systems package derived directly from the winning technology in the World Superbike Championship, the most complete of its kind available on the market today.

On the RSV4 RR, APRC has been further developed to adjust to the new engine and chassis characteristics in order to meet the specific needs of the pleasure or professional rider. The new APRC system integrates even better with the full Ride-by-Wire multimap precision electronic management of the Aprilia V4.

APRC, which comes as standard on the Aprilia RSV4 RR, includes:

  • ATC: Aprilia Traction Control, adjustable on the fly (without having to release the throttle) to 8 settings thanks to a practical joystick on the left side of the handlebar, with extremely fine tuned operating logic;
  • AWC: Aprilia Wheelie Control, adjustable to three settings, has been recalibrated for maximum performance at level 1 (the least restrictive setting);
  • ALC: Aprilia Launch Control, the assisted starting system for use on the track only with 3 settings;
  • AQS: Aprilia Quick Shift electronic gearbox for ultra-fast shifting without closing the throttle or using the clutch.

In addition to the second generation APRC system, RSV4 RR comes from the factory standard with the highly advanced “RACE ABS” antilock braking system, designed and developed by Aprilia in collaboration with Bosch to guarantee not only extreme safety on the road, but also the best possible performance on the track. The 9 MO ABS unit is top of the line in currently available refinements and technology: the system, which weighs only 2 kg, can be disengaged and is adjustable to 3 levels by easily accessing the control menu on the sophisticated instrument cluster:

  • Level 1: this is dedicated to track use (but it is also approved for street use) and acts on both wheels to guarantee the best possible performance, even in the most intense braking conditions at any speed. It takes nothing away from the pleasure and performance of “extreme” riding.
  • Level 2: this is dedicated to sport riding on the road, acts on both wheels and is combined with an advanced tip over system (RLM – Rear Lift-up Mitigation) which engages progressively based on the vehicle speed.
  • Level 3: this is dedicated to riding on surfaces with poor grip, acts on both wheels and is combined with the tip over system.

Each of the 3 setting levels for RACE ABS can be combined with any of the 3 new engine maps to allow riders with varying experience and skill levels to find the best possible combination.

The new and powerful engine ECU now allows the three maps to be more easily managed, each one of which corresponds to a different engine power output and now also to a dedicated engine brake management map. The two classic engine management logics Track and Sport are now joined by the new Race map, the most extreme and suited for professional use of the bike on the track with engine braking control reduced to a minimum in order to support more abrupt braking. All three maps are more manageable and less aggressive than the previous version, therefore allowing perfect correlation between throttle control and the torque sent to the wheels. This reduces rear tyre wear and makes it possible to better manage the power that the Aprilia V4 is able to develop.

Versions and colours

Aprilia RSV4 RR represents a top shelf platform, ready to provide the rider with a “race replica” performance and feeling. As standard equipment it also has all of those features which only the Factory RSV4 had previously, such as magnesium external housings, oil sump and head covers, a wide range of chassis adjustments and the variable setting intake ducts. Aprilia RSV4 RR is available in two attractive colour schemes, both matte, on a black and grey base (Bucine gray and black Ascari) and a “Race Pack” is also available that includes lightweight forged aluminium wheel rims and more sophisticated Öhlins suspension (shock absorbers, fork and steering damper).

Engine and riding: Unrivalled performance

The Tuono V4 1100 Factory is powered by a powerful and reliable 65° 4-cylinder engine with unique characteristics and compact dimensions which deliver superb weight centralisation.

The Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 system represents the ultimate frontier in semi-active suspension from the Swedish manufacturer and on the new Tuono Factory it comes with OBTi interface for even more intuitive operation.

The event-based system uses an integrated knowledge algorithm which intuitively optimises bike behaviour based on settings selected by the driver. The Smart EC 2.0 system with OBTi allows you to visualise and manage all functions by means of the colour 4.3-inch TFT dashboard.

You can select from six Riding modes with three Active ones managing suspension behaviour via the Smart EC system and the three manual modes allowing you to set the suspensions by means of a static functionality. All six Riding modes are themselves customisable thanks to a submenu which offers further options to modify the various parameters at the touch of a finger, to ensure exceptional precision and ease of use.

Electronics: Technology on the go

The Tuono V4 1100 Factory comes with Aprilia Performance Ride Control, the advanced bike control system developed through Aprilia’s Superbike racing experience.

The easy-to-use and intuitive colour TFT digital instrument cluster allows the user to electronically adjust any riding parameter with ease, whilst the multi-media platform APRILIA MIA ensures you can analyse performance at will by keeping your bike and Smartphone always connected via Bluetooth.

Design: Iconic naked sporting prowess

The design of the Tuono V4 1100 Factory packs a punch, from its red rims to its magnificent tail fairing, derived from its sister RSV4 and two-up approved.

Add to this the distinctive “three eyes” of the fairing, the symbol of Noale’s riders, together with the brand new Superpole graphics in a striking combination of red and black and it’s clear that this is a bike with an unadulterated Racing and anti-conformist soul.

For the fastest and sportiest naked bike ever, a direct descendant of the RSV4, four-time world SBK champion, a new evolutionary step has arrived which allows exceptional levels of performance to be achieved. The new, sophisticated electronic management includes an advanced dynamic controls package with APRC, Cornering ABS, Pit Limiter and Cruise Control.

The inimitable 175 hp V4 earns Euro 4 approval, without sacrificing any of its superb performance. Improved suspension and brakes.

Euro 4 engine: the same exciting performance

The Tuono is the only naked bike powered by a 65° V4 engine with unique characteristics. The narrow V architecture has made it possible to make an engine that is extremely compact lengthways which helps to centralise weights and to have a compact chassis. The changes made in this evolution of the Italian V4 not only resulted in Euro 4 approval, but also in increasing overall reliability and performance, without sacrificing any of the great character and marvellous sound that bikers love so much. The powerplant earns a new exhaust system with a silencer that has a double oxygen sensor and a built in valve. The engine ECU is new, with superior calculating capacity able to manage the rise in maximum revs, now 500 rpm higher. In order to guarantee maximum reliability, decreasing friction at the same time, the piston pins have DLC surface treatment, whereas the connecting rod heads boast a surface honing treatment. The combustion chambers are no longer obtained through a fusion process, but by a finer, numerically controlled mechanical process, whereas the gearbox now has a linear sensor that guarantees impeccable gearshift operation.

Suspension and brakes directly from the new RSV4

If, on one hand, the new Tuono V4 range fully confirms all the proverbial qualities of handling and stability stemming from a frame that is closely derived from that of the Apirilia RSV4, seven-time World Superbike champion, on the other, it introduces important news in the brakes and suspension department. The front Brembo braking system comes directly from the one on the RSV4 and relies on a pair of new steel discs that have been increased to 330 mm, gripped by the new monobloc M50 callipers and activated by a radial master cylinder on the handlebar.

Completely revamped electronics

The greatest innovations have to do with the Aprilia Tuono V4’s on board electronics, that has always been considered as the “best in class”, where the APRC system stands out. Aprilia Performance Ride Control is the patented control suite derived directly from the winning technology in world Superbike, the most complete and refined of those available on the market. The fourth generation of APRC, standard on the Tuono V4 1100, fits in perfectly with the fine electronic management of the new full Ride-by-Wire throttle, that has allowed all superfluous throttle body electronic management components to be eliminated, thereby saving 590 grams. The repositioning of the internal platform that allows APRC operation has improved accurate detection of the dynamic conditions of the bike, resulting in more efficient electronic control strategies.

The Tuono V4 1100 RR and Tuono V4 1100 Factory APRC include:

New ATC: Aprilia Traction Control, adjustable on the fly, (without having to release the throttle) to 8 settings thanks to a practical joystick, now has even more fine-tuned and higher performance operating logic.
